OUR LEADERSHIP & STAFF

Joe Dewey, Interim Pastor

Joe moved to Brooklyn in 2016 after graduating from Covenant Seminary in Saint Louis to serve as a pastoral resident at Resurrection Brooklyn Heights (RBH). Shortly after moving, he was ordained by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church and has served RBH as an assistant pastor ever since. In addition to his work as an assistant pastor, Joe oversees the Resurrection Brooklyn Fellows Program, a 9-month discipleship intensive for applying members of Resurrection Brooklyn Church Network. Furthermore, he is working part-time on a Masters in theology with a focus on Ethics at Princeton Theological Seminary. His academic interests are related to the intersection of the church's public witness and ecumenism.

Joe is originally from Columbus, Ohio. After high school, he attended The University of Virginia where he played varsity lacrosse, studied history, and met his now wife, Becca. The two got married shortly after graduating and stayed in Charlottesville to serve a UVA campus ministry, Athletes In Action. Eventually they moved to Saint Louis to attend Covenant Theological Seminary. Becca received a Masters in Counseling and Joe received a Masters in Divinity. They have two young sons, Denton and Louis.

Joe loves to learn, explore the city, run, play soccer on pier 5, see live music, watch college football, and cook (well mostly just eat) good food.

Alex Amadeo, Music Director

Alex is excited and honored to be the Music Director at Resurrection Brooklyn Heights. Alex hopes to create an environment of communal singing, praise and reflection that points everyone to the Gospel of Christ.

Originally from New Orleans, Alex grew up in a musical family. There he attended the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts|Riverfront. Alex holds degrees of music in composition from Syracuse University and Manhattan School of Music, where he now works. He also enjoys working in film, having scored many shorts and feature length films.

Alex enjoys running, saints football, reading, and sharing meals with friends and family. Alex and his wife Michele have two dogs, Claude and Wolf, and are expecting their first child in April 2019.

LeeAnn Valvano, Children's Ministry Director

LeeAnn has been a part of the Resurrection Brooklyn community for over 10 years. She and her husband, Beau, and their two children, Rocco and Lulu moved to the neighborhood in 2015. She is thrilled to nurture the children’s understanding of God and elevate the voices of our youngest members.

LeeAnn is originally from Cary, North Carolina and moved to the city to attend NYU. She received a B.F.A. from Tisch School of the Arts in Drama and Psychology and has a Master's degree from Hunter College in Early Childhood General and Special Education. She is the Assistant Director of Beginnings Nursery School where she has worked for 14 years. LeeAnn loves to do yoga, play dress-up with her kids, and share a well curated charcuterie plate with friends
